Overcoming Limitations – How to Overcome Obstacles
Limitation is the obstacle (obstruction) stopping you from getting your desire.
For instance, suppose you desire to publish a book, but something stops you from writing. In that case, the very thing stopping you from writing is the limitation. Below are the ways to overcome any obstacle.
-
Forget all limitations
The first step to overcoming limitations is to forget about them. Think instead about the beauty of your goal and how lovely it would be to achieve it. Write down why you passionately want to get what you desire. Think, write, and visualize achieving your dream without considering any obstacles.
Case Study (Luke 1:37): “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
-
Believe Jesus as your lovely father
Once you’ve turned a blind eye to limitations, believe Jesus as your lovely father.
A lovely father takes good care of his family, ensuring they have all they need to flourish.
Jesus loves his children so much that he:
- Died for them. (John 3:16)
- Stopped the sun and moon for them. (Joshua 10:12-13)
- Killed their oppressors. (Exodus 14:21-31)
- Sent the birds of the air to feed them. (1 Kings 17:4-6)
You are so precious to God, your lovely father, that he can break boundaries for you. He just needs you to believe he can do all things. He is a limitless father who never jokes about his children’s welfare.
-
Know precisely what you want
- What exactly do you want?
- What do you really want to achieve?
- Where is your primary destination?
You can sum up the three questions above into “What is your burning desire?”
Jesus needs your definite answer to help you achieve it. He is waiting for you to figure out your burning desire. He has given you charge over the earth and is always available to support you in being fruitful, multiplying, and replenishing the earth.
In other words, you are limitless, boundless, and free! So, what exactly is your passionate desire?
Case Study (Mark 10:46:52): Calling blind Bartimaeus, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Had Bartimaeus not known his burning desire, he would have missed a golden opportunity for a divine miracle.
-
Believe you will get your desire
Desire without belief is dead.
Once you’ve gotten a desire you passionately want to achieve, you’ve got to believe nothing can stop you from getting it—absolutely nothing!
Remember, Jesus is ready to support you in realizing what you believe is yours. So, the only creation that can stop you is you—otherwise, all things are possible if you believe.
Case Study (Numbers: 14:6-9): Amidst a multitude of doubtful people, Joshua and Caleb believed they would realize their goal, and they did.
-
Know the realistic routes to your desire
Once you know your desire is yours, the next step is to map out the definite route(s) that lead to it.
- Where is the location of your desire?
- What are the things that, if you do precisely, will grant you your desire?
- What are the paths that lead to your goal?
Knowing the realistic path to your desire is crucial to avoid wasting time or embarking on a fruitless journey.
Case Study (Matthew 7:6): “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
-
Go get your desire!
All you need to embark on your journey is to know your desire, its routes, and an absolute belief that you will get it. They are the prerequisites to seeking your goal through the path(s) you’ve mapped. Nothing can hinder those who know where to get their desire and forge ahead, believing no obstacle exists to stop them from acquiring it.
Case Study (Matthew 7:7-8): “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
-
Never stop believing
While on the journey to get your desire, persistently remember the goal and believe it is yours. Don’t let anything stop you from increasing your faith. A forgotten desire is a diversion, and a fading belief is fatal.
Case Study (Matthew 15:22-28): “The woman of Canaan knew exactly what she wanted and did not let anything stop her belief—not even Jesus’s “derogatory” reception.”
-
Identify obstructions
Identify “that limitation” if you observe something is hindering you from moving to your goal’s location. These questions could help:
- Where are you going?
- Where are you on the journey to your destination?
- Where is the next location you need to be on the path to your goal?
- What is obstructing your movement to the next location?
Identifying the specific obstruction is crucial to avoid solving the wrong problem.
Case Study (Numbers 22:23-35): Balaam struck the wrong target because he failed to identify his obstruction. Hadn’t the Lord opened his eyes to see his obstacle, he would have continued to waste his resources on the wrong solutions.
-
Outsmart the obstructions
Once you’ve identified the obstacles hindering your progress toward your goal, you must outsmart them.
Remember that your heavenly father is supporting you if you believe. Nothing can better the cooperation of God and yourself. You are more than conquerors. Nothing can stop you from getting your desire. You are in a team (God and yourself) with the best wisdom to outsmart any creation that attempts to limit your progress.
You will achieve your goal if you keep believing, forging ahead, and outsmarting all hindrances. Nothing can stop the collaborative drive of God and a believing soul.
Case Study (Mark 5:25:34): Believing that touching the hem of Jesus’ garment was all she needed to be healed, the woman with the issue of blood forged ahead and outsmarted everyone who could stop her.
Nothing can stop you if you forge ahead believing.
If thou can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.
—Mark 9:23 (KJV)
